Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Questions I Am Often Asked As A Professional DJ Sax expert in Canberra

I’ve certainly seen it all in my 10+ years of full time performing and touring around the country.

Your event is a BIG DEAL and deserves to be treated as so. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have. In the meantime, you can read through some of my most common questions below.

Do you only play weddings?

No! Whilst I’m in love with weddings, I play at many corporate events and private functions all year round.

Do you travel?

I have been a full time DJ and professional musician for over 10 years and have travelled all over the world to perform. I’ve now settled down in Canberra with my family and prefer to keep my bookings local. I’m willing to travel for interstate events however, the surcharge can seem quite high when factoring in travel, accommodation, work leave and additional time. Please contact me to discuss if your event is outside of the ACT.

Do you service same-sex weddings?

Absolutely! I service ALL weddings and happily celebrate love! 🌈

What can I add onto my DJ booking?

I’ve created 3 fantastic entertainment packages for you to choose from, all at a different price point to suit your budget - This makes it super easy for you to plan the perfect entertainment and music options for your special day. My Platinum Package includes all add on options however, if you would like to see what options are available to you, please see my available Add Ons.

What if we have to move our event due to COVID-19?

It’s certainly a crazy time we live in now. Covid has really impacted the wedding industry and thrown a spanner in the works with planning. Don’t worry - whilst your deposit is non refundable, it’s fully transferable to your new date providing you have given me at least 7 days notice (this allows me the opportunity to secure another event). We can work together to find a new date that I am available for.

What do you need from the venue in order to set up?

Nothing - I bring everything! Just ensure that there is nearby power access to the set up location (standard household power is fine).

How long do you need to set up?

I’ll arrive about an hour prior to your booking start time. With many years of experience, I’ve got my set up down to a fine art and will always be fully set up, ready to go by the start of your booking time.

How much space do you need for your set up?

Not much space at all. Positioned behind the dance floor, I only require a 2 x 3m set up area (any larger is a bonus).

Can you set up outside?

Most definitely! Please ensure that I am protected from the elements (with shade) so that my equipment does not overheat or get wet. I do require a dry flat surface to set up on.

How much power do you require for your set up?

I only require access to 1 dedicated power point for my set up (standard household power). All of my leads are up to date with current test and tagging and I’ll provide all leads required for my set up. Please have power accessible within 10 meters of my performance area.

Do you take song requests on the night?

Absolutely - I love taking requests (if they are good)! This can be one of the best indicators of what music styles your guests enjoy dancing to. I pride myself on having a great skill of reading the room and playing the right song at the right time to ensure the happiest of feet on the dance floor. For your peace of mind, I am just as comfortable to say NO to a song request if it’s not a good one.

“Sorry Great Aunt Gladys - Dream A Little Dream Of Me is probably not going to work right now, straight after Flo Rida at 11:15pm…”

Can we use your microphone for speeches?

Yes. You will have access to a sanitised microphone (wireless) for your MC to enjoy for all announcements and guest speeches.

Can you MC my wedding?

Of course! For an additional fee, I’m most happy to provide a basic MC service at your wedding and take care of the formalities. Just let me know at the time of your booking (or in the lead up) if you’d like to add this service and I’ll update your booking to include this.

Note: This is an included option in my Platinum Package. :)

Can you play overtime if needed?

Yes, I most certainly can - I want you to have the time of your life but do appreciate the heads up if you think or know that your event will run past 11pm. Just like your other on-site vendors, there is an overtime charge for the additional time and will need to be paid before the overtime begins. Please have CASH available on the night (just in case), as I cannot accept EFT post event.

Do you have a backup option if your gear fails?

Absolutely! I always ensure that there is a backup plan in place. My equipment is always tested thoroughly before and after use to avoid any potential failures or problems.

What contingency do you have in place if you’re sick and unable to perform?

The world mourns. 😂

On a serious note though, I can count on one hand how many times I've needed to replace myself on a performance due to severe sickness / emergency (and I’ve been doing this professionally for over a decade), so you can be very confident (almost certain), that I will be there to celebrate with you and your guests! Of course, if I am unable to perform due to illness, injury, or unexpected emergency, I will not leave you without great entertainment and will replace myself with a capable and equivalent substitute (DJ) and still honour the booking. In the unlikely event a replacement cannot be found, a full refund will be provided .

What is your preferred form of communication in the lead up?

Crafting your event is a creative process so i’m happy to meet/speak with you over zoom, phone & email in the lead up to your event. To make the organising super easy, you will have access to a personalised online planning portal, making your scheduling/organising a dream. Client who have secured my Platinum Package will enjoy an in person consultation closer to the event date to go over the workflow and formalities of the evening.
