With a Bachelor of Music from the Australian National University and over 20 years honing his artistic craft while entertaining audiences, Callum has found himself frequently flying around the country to perform for events.

For a typical 5 hour wedding reception in Australia, you can expect to to pay a wedding DJ between $1500 and $5000, depending on their experience, location and demand. Lighting, speakers, DJ table & wireless microphone, set up/pack down should all be included. Anything less than this range is regarded as "budget," thus you should take extreme caution if considering a budget DJ.

Assuming your DJ is only required for the wedding reception only, the average time period of performance is generally is a max 5 hour period, generally finishing around 11:00pm. Often DJs will offer to extend their time for an additional fee.
At a wedding reception, DJs will take care of all formality songs throughout the night and ensure the music levels are not too loud, complimenting the environment. The key wedding formality songs the DJ will perform are:

If you would like more creative control in the planning stages of your wedding and would like more input into the songs performed, then perhaps a professional DJ would be a good option for you to consider for your wedding entertainment. If you have a higher budget ($3000 - $6000) and value musicianship and crowd engagement, then perhaps a professional live band would be the better choice for you.
